Podgora is a community and settlement located on the south of Croatia, on the beautiful Makarska riviera. The community holds together five settlements: Drašnice, Gornje Igrane, Igrane, Podgora and Živogošće. It counts just a bit over 2500 inhabitans who's main activity is, of couse, tourism itself. The Settlement of Podgora is consisted out of two parts: Gornja (upper) and Donja (down) Podgora. Even though a small settlement, it still offers a variety of monuments and is really proud of it's rich cultural-historical heritage. There are around 20 churches and chapels which is a proof of a long Christian tradition – the most famous ones are the Baroque church of Saint Roko and a chapel/lighthouse Ijak which is often mentioned to be one of the oldest saved lighthouses of the Mediterranean area. The settlement has a nice, comfortable Mediterranean climate which, in combination with beautiful aromatic flora, is a guarantee for a dreamy vacation. There are also many restaurants in which you can provide some local delicacies, such as dish made of beef called ''Dalmatinska pašticada'' or many kinds of lamb dishes. You can also degust the local red wine which is one of the best in the entire region, and of course, the very main product of Dalmatia and Kvarner, home made olive oil. There is also a diversity of beautiful beaches that will satisfy everyone's taste. Podgora is located 65 kilometers from Split, a world wide famous city fullfilled with tourist activities, attractions and cultural-historical monuments which are under the protection of UNESCO.
