Baška voda is a community and settlement located on the middle part of the Croatian coast. It is around 50 kilometers away from the world wide known city of Split. Once a small fishing settlement is today a famous tourist destination with all the characteristic of a typical Mediterranean town. The tourism in Baška Voda started developing on the beginning of 20th century by building the first hotel, and today it presents the main activity of local inhabitants. In Baška voda there are many private apartments, villas, camping sites, and hotels offering a tourist accomodation. The settlement has a rich cultural-historical heritage, and one of the best knows monuments is the church of St. Lovro from the 18th century which was built on the base of an ancient building. In the old center of the settlement there are two meaningful museum archeological collections which show proofs about the creationing of Baška voda, coming from the prehistory. There is also one of the richest malacological collections in Croatia – holding over 1000 different sea organisms and beings that live in the sea of Adriatic. In the honor of Saint Nikola, the settlement's preserver, on the entrence to the harbor there is a monument. Baška Voda is an ideal vacationing destination because of it's nice Mediterranean climate, many natural beauties, beaches and richness of cultural-historical heritage.
