Central Dalmatia
It is well known in Croatia that Central Dalmatia is the most action packed of all the regions on offer. There
is much to see and do here and the sights on offer are diverse. You can find castles and mountains
intertwined with an amazing modern Mediterranean lifestyle.
Trogir
Trogir is a small but stunning town dotted within medieval walls. Here you can find stunning architecture on
offer and if you are interested in history then Trogir is the destination for you. You can explore the
Kamerlengo Fortress, while was built around the 15th century, and you can visit the stunning Gothic sights
of the Trogir Town hall also. There are several other must see historical sights including the Convent of St
Nicholas, the Grand Cipiko Palace and the Trogir Town Museum.
Brač
The island of Brač is often featured, in part, on the front pages of Croatian tourism leaflets. This is because
the island of Brač is home to the famous Zlatni Rat, a pebbly beach at Bol which is known for changing in
length and width dependant on the ever changing tide. Brač is home to cliffs, pine forests and stunning
water spots just waiting to be explored with your family. Brač is less populated than other islands, due to
more difficult living conditions, and this makes for a stunning destination if you want to explore a part of
Croatia that is off the beaten track.
Hvar
Hvar is known for being the most luxurious of Croatia's islands, of which there are more than 1,000. Hvar is
hugely popular in part due to being the sunniest part of Croatia, but also because it is home to luxurious
hotels, restaurants and clubs. Hvar is also popular with people sailing in their yachts and there is a
grandeur to Hvar. The air is lightly scented with lavender, thanks to an abundance of lavender fields and
many of the hotels sell products made with locally grown lavender, rosemary and heather.
Makarska
Makarska is a beautiful town with stunning buildings made from local limestone. Makarska is the perfect
destination for tourists who want an active holiday. There are a vast array of sporting activities on offer
including windsurfing, paragliding, hiking and cycling. The beach here is home to volleyball games and lots
of child friendly activities too. Makarska is the perfect destination for families with children of all ages.
Brela
Brela is located on the Makarska Riviera and is home to more than 3 miles of wonderful sandy beaches.
The sea is crystal clear here and the air is thick with the scent of pine trees. Brela is full of stunning
footpaths to explore and the peaks of Mount Biokovo can be seen from around this beautiful resort. Thick
pine forests encase Brela and provide you with a stunning backdrop for a relaxing holiday.
Gradac
Gradac is another resort located on the Makarska Riviera and it is located just under the slopes of Mount
Biokovo. Gradac is home to stunning architecture and is also home to locally produced olive oil and wine,
both of which make fantastic gifts for those friends and family left at home. Hotels are limited in numbers
here but there are a vast array of private houses, villas and apartment for rent throughout the year.
